The October Chamber Luncheon’s featured speaker was local realtor and property manager Jeff Hickeither of Ericks Realty. Jeff provided attendees with interesting information about the state of the Deer Park housing market. Jeff characterized the local housing situation as seller friendly due to a reduced inventory of housing and rental properties. Housing prices have remained relatively stable, especially when compared to the Spokane area. Jeff briefly talked about new housing projects on the north and east sides of Deer Park. This led to a lively discussion about the potential impact of these developments on local schools, small businesses and transportation.
Also speaking at the luncheon Tom Konis, candidate for Spokane County Assessor. Tom spoke about the wide ranging responsibilities of the Assessors Office including calculating residential and commercial property taxes, administering Current Use and Property Tax Exemption Programs, Parcel Segregation, and more. Mr. Konis concluded his presentation by by talking about upgrading the offices use of technology, especially in the field, to improve customer service.
Catering for the luncheon was provided by the Deer Park Pizza Factory.
